How many German companies are hiring CE drivers?

In short

On 22 July 2026 there were 11,761 publicly posted CE driver roles across 7,058 distinct German companies. Demand concentrates around Berlin, Hamburg, the Ruhr and the northern ports, and a small number of logistics and waste-management groups account for a disproportionate share of it. Every figure here comes from job ads the companies published themselves.

The headline numbers

We scrape publicly posted vacancies to find companies that are hiring, because a company advertising a role has already decided to spend money on it. On 22 July 2026 the German CE driver market looked like this.

MeasureCount
Open CE driver roles11,761
Distinct companies posting them7,058
Average roles per hiring company1.7
Cities and towns represented3,172
SourceBundesagentur für Arbeit
Snapshot date22 July 2026

The ratio matters more than the totals. At 1.7 roles per company, most German firms hiring drivers are filling one or two seats rather than staffing a new depot. The agencies that win work here are the ones that can serve a two-driver order quickly, not only the rare fleet-wide contract.

Where the demand sits

Driver demand follows freight corridors rather than population. Berlin and Hamburg lead, but Duisburg and Bremen punch far above their size because of the ports and the Ruhr distribution belt.

Magdeburg and Leipzig are the interesting entries. Neither is a major city by German standards, and both sit high on the list because eastern logistics hubs have grown faster than the local driver pool. An agency placing drivers from Poland or the Baltics has a shorter route to those depots than to Munich.

The employers posting the most

A handful of groups carry a large share of the total. These are the companies that posted the most CE driver roles in the snapshot.

EmployerOpen CE roles

REMONDIS GmbH & Co. KG Region Nord82
REMONDIS Süd GmbH Verwaltung81
REMONDIS GmbH & Co. KG Region Ost69
GP Günter Papenburg AG62
REMONDIS GmbH & Co. KG Region West60
REMONDIS GmbH & Co. KG Südwest59

REMONDIS appears five times because it posts per region rather than centrally. Read as one organisation it is comfortably the largest single source of CE driver demand in the dataset, at 457 roles. Waste management runs its own fleets and hires continuously, which makes the sector a steadier customer than seasonal freight.

Why a job ad is the cleanest buying signal there is

Most sales triggers are guesses about intent. A funding round might mean hiring. A new executive might mean a new supplier. A job ad is different, because the company has already written the requirement, approved the budget and put its name to the need in public.

Three properties make it useful. It is dated, so you know how long the gap has been open. It is specific, naming the licence, the depot and often the shift pattern. And it is repeatable, so a role reposted three times tells you the company is failing to fill it alone.

That last one is where staffing agencies win. A role open for eight weeks is a company that has already tried its own channels and lost. The pitch writes itself, because you are answering a problem the buyer has publicly admitted to.

What this dataset is not

It is a snapshot of public postings on one date, not a census of German driver demand. Roles filled through agencies, word of mouth or internal transfer never appear. Companies that advertise only on their own site are under-counted.

The employer names are grouped as the source publishes them, so regional entities of the same group count separately in the table above. And it goes stale: a vacancy list is a photograph, and this one was taken on 22 July 2026.

How to turn this into a target list

The counts are the starting point, not the deliverable. The work is narrowing them to the companies worth your time and reaching the person who owns the gap.

Filter to the cities you can actually service. Cut anything below your minimum order size. Prioritise roles that have been open longest and companies posting the same role repeatedly. Then find the decision-maker, which for driver hiring is usually the depot manager or head of disposition rather than HR, and write while the ad is still live.

That is the service we run. We build the list from data like this, verify every address, and open the conversation in your name.

Frequently asked

How many CE driver roles were open in Germany in July 2026?
Our snapshot on 22 July 2026 found 11,761 publicly posted CE driver roles across 7,058 distinct German companies, sourced from Bundesagentur für Arbeit listings.
Which German cities have the most driver vacancies?
Berlin led with 199 open roles across 163 companies, followed by Hamburg with 172, Bremen with 92 and Duisburg with 88. Demand follows freight corridors and ports rather than population size.
Which companies hire the most CE drivers in Germany?
REMONDIS posts the most in total, 457 roles once its regional entities are combined. Ludwig Meyer posted 94, Deutsche Post 88 and GP Günter Papenburg 62.
Is a job advert a reliable sales signal?
It is the most reliable public one, because the company has already approved budget and stated the requirement itself. A role reposted repeatedly is the strongest version of that signal, since it shows the company has tried its own channels and failed to fill the gap.
Can I get the underlying list of companies?
We do not sell the dataset. We use it to build a target list for a specific client, filtered to their service area and order size, then verify every contact before any outreach.
