That is more than the next five Polish cities combined and just over a quarter of the entire national register. 2,589 of them turn over more than 10 million zloty. The number
191,897 active registered companies with a Warsaw address. Kraków, Wrocław, Poznań, Łódź and Gdańsk together hold 144,885, so Warsaw outweighs all five.
Part of that is genuine economic weight and part is registration behaviour. Warsaw is where holding companies, property vehicles and head offices register regardless of where the work happens, which is why real estate and uncategorised entities together account for 43,481 of the total.
Warsaw accounts for 26.1 percent of every registered company in Poland.
What these companies do
| Sector | Companies | Share of the city |
|---|---|---|
| Professional Services | 34,025 | 17.7% |
| Uncategorised | 24,077 | 12.5% |
| Wholesale and Distribution | 19,681 | 10.3% |
| Real Estate | 19,404 | 10.1% |
| IT and Software | 13,922 | 7.3% |
| Construction and Trades | 13,493 | 7.0% |
| Manufacturing and Industry | 13,291 | 6.9% |
| Marketing and Media | 9,595 | 5.0% |
Sector is derived from the registered activity classification, so a company with mixed activity is assigned to its primary one. The uncategorised group covers entities whose filed classification is too generic to place.
Revenue bands
Filed revenue is available for 65,611 of the 191,897 companies, from the most recent financial year on file. Figures are in Polish zloty.
| Revenue band | Companies | Share of those with revenue |
|---|---|---|
| Under 100,000 PLN | 27,490 | 41.9% |
| 100,000 to 500,000 | 16,965 | 25.9% |
| 500,000 to 2m | 11,953 | 18.2% |
| 2m to 10m | 6,614 | 10.1% |
| 10m to 50m | 2,042 | 3.1% |
| Over 50m | 547 | 0.8% |
34.2% of the city has a filed figure. The companies without one skew smaller and younger, so a revenue filter quietly biases the list towards established firms.
Website presence
36,677 of 191,897, or 19.1%, have a website in our data.
Most prospecting stacks start with a domain: find the company, find the site, guess the email pattern, verify it. Remove the site and the chain breaks at step one, so a domain-first workflow reaches only the online slice of the city.
New registrations
Companies registered in each year that are still active today.
| Year | Still-active registrations |
|---|---|
| 2021 | 13,310 |
| 2022 | 14,360 |
| 2023 | 14,531 |
| 2024 | 14,537 |
| 2025 | 13,946 |
| 2026 (to August) | 6,987 |
The 2026 row covers January to August only. Because the population is restricted to companies still active today, older cohorts are understated by the firms that have since closed.
What this means for targeting
Warsaw is not one market. 34,025 professional services firms and 13,922 IT companies sit alongside 19,404 real estate entities that are mostly holding vehicles with no staff. Segment before you send or your list will be half shells.
Use revenue to strip the shells. 27,490 of the 65,611 with filed figures turn over under 100,000 zloty. The 9,203 above 2 million are the companies with employees, budgets and procurement.
Web presence is 19.1 percent, below the national average of 21.9. That is counterintuitive for a capital and it is the holding-entity effect again: those companies never needed a public presence.
Formation is flat, not growing. Still-active registrations have sat between 13,300 and 14,600 every year since 2021, so the newly-registered cohort is a stable, renewable list of about fourteen thousand a year rather than a growth story.
How the count was made
The snapshot is built from Poland register data, deduplicated on registration number and filtered to entities with an active status. City is the registered address, so a company headquartered elsewhere with an operation in Warsaw is not counted here, and a holding entity registered in Warsaw with no local activity is.
Revenue is the most recent filed figure per company rather than a common year. Website presence means we hold a domain associated with the record, not that the site is live today.
Every figure on this page comes from one query against that snapshot.
